Let’s take a moment to review ITIL and ITSM. Departments, units, or companies that provide IT services to customers, whether internal or external, need to provide a level of service that increase the quality of and the profits of the organizations. The IT infrastructure library, ITIL, is comprises best practices to deliver IT service management, ITSM.

So how do the supporting organizations of ITIL and ITSM interact?

  1. OCG – The Office of Government Commerce, OCG, maintains ITIL by working with the Information Technology Service Management Forum and the British Standards Institute.
  2. itSMF – The Information Technology Service Management Forum, itSMF, is the independent body devoted to IT service management and a contributor to industry best practices
  3. EXIN – The Dutch foundations Exameninstituut voor Informatica, EXIN, co-developed the exam system for ITIL with the UK’s Information Systems Examination Board.
  4. ISEB – The UK’s Informtion Systems Examination Board, ISEB, co-developed the professional certification exams for ITIL.
