In the CF Administrator there is a setting Maximum number of simultaneous requests and I believe a fresh install defaults the value to 8.

But what should this setting be?

Well, not 100. :)

Seriously though the setting should be between 3 to 10 for a single processor machine, and between 6 to 20 for a dual processor machine.

Hi Elyse. Great reference. There's also some good tips in Geoff Bowers' Breeze presentation "CFMX Admin: made easy-breezy" - http://mmcommunity.breezecentral.com/p59629182/ - for those who are tweaking their CFMX server.

I have an old CF 4.5.2 SP2 server, dual processor that has the setting set to 60. That setting came as a result of load testing and tweaking. The rest of my 9 servers are all CFMX 6.1, dual proc and more in the 10-20 range.
